Why do I need a dental cleaning and exam?
Dental cleanings and exams are vital to your oral health. They help you deep clean your smile and remove harmful substances that can create major and dangerous dental issues like tooth decay and gum disease. Unfortunately, your at-home oral hygiene routine cannot save your smile from every smile-threatening object. The bi-annual exam can help you detect and treat dental problems at the early stages of development. This can help you avoid extreme pain and complications, and it can also help you avoid intensive treatment. Contact Dr. Gum to schedule your dental cleaning and exam.
Why teeth cleaning is important?
A regular dental check up is important because it helps keep your teeth and gums healthy. You should have a regular dental visit at least every 6 months or as recommended by your dental professional. Teeth cleaning can help with the following:
- Problem Detection
- Prevention
Regular teeth cleanings help us catch small problems with your teeth, gums and mouth that would probably go undetected until becoming more serious.
What is the difference between a regular cleaning & a deep cleaning?
We’ve just described a regular cleaning above. What many people refer to as a deep cleaning is also known as scaling and root planing. Unless you have gum disease, you don’t need a deep cleaning. If you do have gum disease that has progressed beyond a mild case of gingivitis, then a deep cleaning is a way to remove the infection that is now beneath the gum line. Keep up with your regular cleanings and a good home brushing and flossing routine, and you are much less likely to ever need a deep cleaning.
Do I really need to floss?
It’s a fact; flossing daily (combined with brushing and a rinse) helps protect against gingivitis by removing plaque and food particles, keeping your teeth and gums healthy and giving you a beautiful smile. Flossing is essential to your smile’s health, no matter what your age.
